My Fine Wine Picks

Majestic Wine has One more day of this Fine Wine Sale left to go. I expect there to be another before the end of the year, but for now here are my top picks from the Marlborough Store.

These are all wines that I love that suit my tastes. If you want any advice feel free to shoot me a message, or head into the shop and ask the guys there, they know their stuff!

Domaine Trouillet Pouilly-Fuissé 2021/22

White Burgundy is the ultimate indulgent Winter White. Not the be all and end all of winter whites as we discovered at the tasting, but for most everyone it is where you treat yourself. Côte de Beaune is at the top end with Côte D’Or & Pouilly Fuisse being it’s better value siblings. This bottle was my pick fr last christmas and I didn’t regret it.

Domaine Trouillet ‘Aux Chailloux’ Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru 2021/22

This is the Premier Cru version of the above, so while it does come in a tenner more it is worth it if you want to really treat yourself.
To get the great prices you need to buy 6 bottle anyway, so why not treat yourself and slip one of these in to find out for yourself!

La Réserve de Léoville-Barton St-Julien 2020/21

Expect nothing but delicious from this wine. The gravely banks of the Gironde allow this wine has a grand vin big brother, this second wine from Leovill-Barton is a steal of a Left Bank Bordeaux. Ready to Drink or to be kept for a few years longer.

Château Meyney ‘La Chapelle de Meyney’ 2016/17, Saint-Estèphe

I won’t ever forget my first sip of Saint Estephe. For me it is my favourite Bordeaux style. This is another second wine (second growth of grapes in a year). But it is given the same love as it’s big brother. Expect more red fruit and berries than the St Julien but the same luxury

Château Meyney 2013/2017, Saint-Estèphe

Here is the Grand Vin the first growth of the one above. Again a tenner more than the good value sibling and definitely worth getting a bottle to treat yourself when buying six. This one could be drunk now or kept back for up to 5 years.
